hand painted scene on front of tall
Russian Santa cloak
Very tall and impressive hand carved, hand painted Russian Santa has the most beautiful painting of village girls on the back
of the cloak. In addition, there is a hand painted scene on the front of the cloak. This Russian Santa is all hand carved, with an
additional 5 inch sack that has a scene with three large bluebirds perched on a snowy branch. You can see a very
expressive face on the Russian Santa that the artist lightly painted for effect. There is a girl with her pet kitten depicted on the
front of the Father Frost's cloak and she is wistfully looking out the window at the snowy day. Seated next to her, the gray cat
has been painted with very great attention to detail. The cat may be contemplating how he would like to chase those birds who
are frolicking outside. The molding above the window has scroll work painted on it to resemble carvings. The timbers of the
house also are painted to resemble the gain and knots of wood. A blue sack with bluebirds painted on it is by the Santa's side
and is attached by two wooden pegs carved into the sack (it is also detachable). The artist painted his scenes all around the
Santa, a technique that makes it stand out as quite unique and special.
On the back of the Russian Santa you can see two
very sweet children holding a bluebird. The young
girls are dressed in long dresses and appear to
live in a village in the countryside. The sky above
the girls has beautiful snowflakes gently falling
down. There are also pine trees covered with
snow in the background. The Father Frost is
holding his staff in one hand and has a tiny
bluebird perches on his other hand (removable bird
with wooden peg to attach to hand). Signed by
the Russian artist. Price: $699. 1 available
