This very merry hand carved, hand painted Russian Santa tilts his head and smiles at
his viewers. The Russian Santa has a very finely hand carved and hand painted face
with detailed features by the Russian artist. The Father Frost's beard is nicely groomed
and is hand carved in a tear-drop shape. This Russian Santa has a huge collar that
stands up and frames his beautiful hand painted face.
In one hand he holds a staff and the other hand clings to a sack. The artist has created
his painting to go across the Father Frost's cloak and over the sack to blend into one
scene. This very different effect draws the observer into the painting. There is a
young girl looking out the window of her house into the wintry day. Snow is on the
ground and there are little birds looking for food and perched in the tree. The girl's cat
sits next to her in the window, perhaps thinking he would like to chase one of the birds.
There is exceptional detail in the painting of the cat. The artist has also created
wonderful effects when painting the details of the wooden house. There are intricate
carvings painted on the molding above the window. The back of the Santa's cloak is
painted red with gold and has added paint drops to resemble tiny jewels. This Santa
stands 12 inches tall by 7 inches wide at the broadest part of his body with a 5 inch
